4-H QUILT CHALLENGE

The 4-H quilt Challenge is where they send you a piece of fabric and you must incorporate it in a quilt, the quilt must also have some kind of 4-H representation. And meet other guide lines such as a certain size and can only contain up to five additional fabric . After sending in your quilt it is put on display at the state level round up 4-H competition. then they are all given to a children's home. to see the winning quilts go to: ttp://fcs.tamu.edu/clothing/4h/quiltchallenge/index.php

I am glad that all the quilts will be well appreciated and used I hope to do it again next year.

crocheting class

I am inviting anyone who would like to come to a crocheting class that I will be teaching over the summer. It will be a four part class, we have had the first part of the class and I am glad to say it was a success. Here is the information for the second class:
When: July 31
What Time: 11am-2pm (if you missed the first class please come at 10 am for an extra hour to learn the basic stitches)
Where: Canyon Creek Baptist Church
What to bring: A skein of Red Heart brand solid and a skein of multi color yarn (make sure the colors match because we will use them together), a tray of snacks for lunch, and an H size crochet hook.
You don't need any experience to come.
If you would like to come to the second class please e-mail me at cbuckner@hot.rr.com so I know who's coming. Please RSVP, we will be doing borders on fleece to make blankets for the linus project and the girlfreinds group will be providing the fleeece so I need a head count.
We will also be doing a show and tell so please bring any crocheted projects you or some else have made so we can show them to the rest of the group. If you came to the first class please bring back your dish towels.

I just wanted to tell everyone about the EEA fashion style show that I was invited to participate in. It was even more fun than I expected, especially because two of my best friends were there; Katelyn Heicsh and Brittney Stone. First we waited for it to begin and then we talked to the lady from the channel 10 news (even though I did not know she was from the news). Then we started the show off modeling the clothes we had sewn and entered in the fashion revue at the Bell County Youth Fair. Afterward we ate lunch and prepared for the County fashion revue for 4-H'ers.
Fo the fashoin show I was the only one in specialty intemediate so I placed 1st and I am going to Distict.

Bell County Youth Fair

These are some of the quilts and other textile projets I entered in the Bell County Youth Fair. I entered all but three catogories in clothing and textiles, because I was going for the Polly-Esther award. I didn't get it this year, but it encourages me all the more to work harder next year. But my favorite part is the fashion revue, where you have to sew a garment, wear it, and be interveiwed by two judges. They judge you not only on how it looks but also on how it fits you, your knowlege of sewing, how well you present yourself, appropriateness for age and style of your garment, and interveiwing skills. The first year I placed third, last year I won champion, and this year I placed reserve champion, but unlike last year I received all excellent marks but one.
